Casey and Alison met all the way back in high school, but it wasn’t until senior year of college when Casey finally asked Alison out. If you know anything about Casey, you know that he is a fun loving guy that enjoys making people smile so it was no surprise that he took Alison to a comedy club for their first date. Five years later, he proposed on top of a mountain in Keystone, CO in front of some of their closest friends.
Alison knew that the most important thing she wanted their wedding to be was fun just like her soon to be husband. “At the end of the day, we knew the most important thing was for people to have a great time and dance the night away with us. Your guests remember those wonderful memories not what color the flowers are or the type of linens on the table” Alison says.
Since family is so important to the couple, the ceremony took place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, which happens to be the same church where Alison’s parents were married 31 years earlier. Alison’s garter was also very special to her because every woman in her family had worn it in their weddings. After the ceremony, the bridal party hopped on a trolley bus filled with champagne where they celebrated until they arrived at the historic Crystal Ballroom at The Rice. “Alison pulled me to so many venues all over Houston, but as soon as we stepped into the Crystal Ballroom, we both knew it was the place we wanted because of the ambiance and the history behind the room” says Casey. Guests dined on food provided by Sambuca. The beautiful cake was created by Who Made The Cake? and they even had an ice cream bar in lieu of a traditional groom’s cake. After being serenaded by the Royal Dukes Band and breaking it down on the dance floor all night, the happy couple continued the festivities with a pub crawl of all their favorite places around downtown Houston.
I have been to so many weddings during my career and I can honestly say that their wedding was one of my favorites. It was so fun for me to photograph their special day!
